Levkas Island
Situated in the centre of the Ionian islands, approx 50 miles south of Corfu, Levkas/Lefkas enjoys long sunny days throughout the summer months with temperatures rarely dipping below 25 degrees, and during the height of the season being considerably more. Levkas is a beautiful island, mountainous and green in its interior, with a varied coastline and stunning views, ranging from the amazing east coast views of the neighbouring islands such as Meganisi and the famous Onassis island of Scorpios, the wonderful west coast beaches and sunsets and the Sappho’s leap on the south coast at Cape Lefkada.
Maintaining its lovely Greek charm, Levkas is surprisingly under commercialised with the people being warm and friendly and still having the time to take time to talk with you. There are no high rise apartment blocks and accommodation is individual and characteristic, yet all with modern facilities.
We can arrange accommodation in both the resorts of Vassilliki or Nidri. Each has its own character and variety of things to offer, but if you want to explore outside of your resort and see more of the island, each has good road connections and car and scooter hire are reasonably priced. You can drive through the orange and olive groves to visit traditional inland stone villages, stunning waterfalls, archeological sites, or the great town of Levkas itself.
There are many sports and entertainment activities offered on Levkas, many of which will be in either Vassiliki or Nidri, such as scuba diving, wind surfing, kayaking, hoby cat sailing, water skiing ,day boat excursions, day yacht charter, water slides on the sea and much more. If you want to go further afield and visit other islands, both have ferry terminals for day trips to places such as Kefalonia and Meganisi. Levkas is the only Ionian island to be linked with the mainland via a swing bridge making it accessible by road transport and therefore easily accessible by road from Aktion airport in nearby Preveza.
